Hey, Instagrammers! Are you ready for some awesome new features that will make your posts and Reels more fun and engaging? Well, you’re in luck, because Instagram has just announced some cool new stuff that you’ll love.

Here’s what’s new on Instagram:

GIFs in comments

You know how sometimes words are not enough to express how you feel about a post or a Reel? Well, now you can use GIFs to comment on them! That’s right, you can now access the GIPHY library and choose from millions of GIFs to spice up your comments. Whether you want to show some love, laughter, surprise, or sass, there’s a GIF for that.

This feature was first discovered by app detective Jane Manchun Wong in February 2023 and was officially launched by Instagram in May 2023.

Gifts on Reels

If you’re a creator on Instagram, you’ll be happy to know that you can now earn some cash from your Reels. The platform has been testing gifts on Reels since November 2022 as a new way for fans to show their support and appreciation for your amazing content.

Fans can buy gifts using Stars, which are virtual coins that they can get with real money. These gifts are themed and cute, and they help you make some money from your loyal fans.

Gifts on Reels will be available in India in the next few weeks, according to Paras Sharma, the boss of content and community partnerships at Facebook India (Meta). The feature is already live in some other countries like the US, UK, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Mexico and Australia.

Improved Reels editor tools

Instagram has also upgraded its Reels editor to make it easier for you to create and edit your Reels. The new editor has everything you need on one screen: video clips, audio, stickers and text. The new editor also gives you more options and control over your Reels.

Some of the new tools that are coming soon include:

  • Splitting a single clip into two clips
  • Changing the speed of your clips
  • Swapping one clip for another without messing up the rest of your Reels.

The new Reels editor was launched in April 2023 and has been getting rave reviews from users and creators. Instagram has been working hard to improve the Reels experience since its launch in August 2020. The company’s Mark Zuckerberg recently said that users are spending 24 percent more time on Instagram since the launch of Reels.
